A slow morning

Oh The morning began when my sister woke me as she prepared to leave for a whale-watching trip with Mum and my other siblings. I was not yet ready to get up, so I chose to rest for a little longer before beginning the day.

When I later woke properly, I sent Dad a brief WhatsApp message to let him know I was awake and interested in going downstairs for breakfast. He was unsure whether I would feel well enough to eat much and suggested that I could order something to the room instead. However, I was keen to leave the room and spend some time in the fresh air.

Breakfast and Fresh Air

First course of breakfast to get the tablets down and the healthiest of breakfast. I present to you granola with yoghurt and a glass of orange juice to wash it all down with.
Second breakfast I had banana bread and a bran muffin which is popular over in South Africa

Upon arriving at the restaurant, I retrieved my medication from my bag in order to take it with breakfast. As I was still feeling somewhat unwell, I opted for a light meal of fruit salad, a slice of banana bread, and a bran muffin, all of which felt manageable and gentle on my stomach.

Although Dad had already eaten, he remained with me and enjoyed a black coffee while we spoke quietly. Being downstairs again felt reassuring, allowing us to ease into the morning at a gentle pace while appreciating the calm atmosphere of Hermanus.

A calm afternoon

By the time I had finished my latte, the rest of the family had returned from their whale-watching excursion. Once they had eaten breakfast, I chose to return to my room for a quiet afternoon of rest and recovery ahead of our onward journey to Cape Town.

Although I was somewhat disappointed that we would no longer be staying at the V&A Waterfront as originally planned, I remained optimistic about the change in accommodation. I had been particularly looking forward to that part of the itinerary, but I was still excited to discover what our final stop would offer and to explore more of Cape Town before returning home.

A perfect last supper

By evening, I felt rested and well enough to enjoy our final dinner in Hermanus. I ordered calamari and chips, selecting the lemon and herb seasoning rather than peri-peri, as I was still not feeling completely recovered. Dad gently teased me for avoiding the spicier option, jokingly calling me a “softy chops”.

On the cocktails

To conclude the meal, I enjoyed one final Don Pedro cocktail, which provided a fitting toast to our last evening in Hermanus before we said farewell to this beautiful seaside town and headed for the big city and last stop of the journey which was Cape Town. CAPE TOWN HERE WE COME!!! But before that I want to show you something which is the sunset
