York Monoply my very first Rebel Event

I have a strong appreciation for Monopoly, and given that York is nearby, I decided to purchase a ticket. I am pleased with this decision, as it resulted in an enjoyable day.

Approximately forty-five minutes later, we arrived at York train station, where a short walk led us to the starting point. However, this was later changed to a different starting location, which was quite inconvenient. This was particularly frustrating for my support worker, who was unaware of the change because she was not a member of the Facebook group.

Upon arriving at the starting point, everyone expressed a desire to obtain stamps for last year’s cup. This experience inspired me to participate in the Rebel Cup 2025, despite my lack of enthusiasm for this year’s theme, which centers around a Greek Goddess. Interested in participating, I purchased a ticket. I then located my teammates, including my acquaintance Laura Steel, Isla Davies, and her mother. We were required to stand in a line ordered by team number, from smallest to largest; I was assigned to team 13, which is considered an unlucky number by some. When I was unable to find my teammates, I approached the Chief Rebel. Surprisingly, Laura and the rest of my team appeared shortly thereafter, just as I was speaking with Charly. This presented an opportunity for me to request a photograph with her, which I postponed until everyone had departed. I then initiated the game, as another member of my group wished to speak with her about camp.

At approximately 11 a.m., we initiated a deliberate exploration of the York city centre. Our goal was to successfully complete the predetermined task. Accompanying us were two electric wheelchairs, an individual who is non-verbal, a novice participant, and a support worker who was notably unhelpful, aside from capturing photographs of the group. Given the circumstances, we believed there was a reasonable chance of success, which is why I employed artificial intelligence for guidance, as the support worker declined to provide directions. Fortunately, my colleague Laura was present to assist. I experienced significant anxiety due to my lack of navigational knowledge; however, I was able to navigate successfully. We remained entirely on foot, as one of our members preferred not to utilise public transportation. I felt disappointed, as I had always hoped to visit a racecourse, even if only to photograph the exterior of the venue.

The York Mining Museum was visited at 11:20am This location was the easiest to access, as it was situated directly across from the starting point. The designated color for this site was green.
Blue Boar, established before 2015, was once rated the premier pub and was subsequently featured on the York Monopoly Board, which is designated in blue.

The Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, dating from the 1350s, is a timber-framed structure that historically served as a meeting place for wholesale traders. Currently, it functions as a museum with exhibits and features a café. It is an excellent site for those interested in history or local heritage.
Hen do- lucky someone in my team is sporting a hen do because I’m blind as a bat. I have a visual impairment which means I can’t see very well it’s called nystagmus.
York Chocolate Story at 12:07pm was an exceptional venue to visit. I wish we had the opportunity to explore it on that day; however, we were too focused on our game to participate in sampling chocolates. Despite this, it was something I genuinely wished to have had
Snickeway In 12-15pm- It’s renowned for its genuine ale, live musical performances, and enjoyable atmosphere.
Monk bar 12:27– Monk Bar is the largest and most highly decorated bars and it started in the 14th century. As well as this we got a Selfie with Davina at Monk Bar!
Cos playing the heads mounted on spikes along the city wall served as a grim warning. Due to this I let my fellow teammates , Laura and Isla captured an amusing photograph because I was unable to join them.
Met detective goose- AKA Charly, I had an extremely enjoyable experience as I had the opportunity to meet Charly in person. She kindly shared some insightful hints and tips about the best places to visit next. Afterwards, we paused our activities to take a memorable photo with Detective Goose.
During a lunchtime stop at a pub, I was disappointed when my colleagues only desired to consume a few drinks. Consequently, I had to eat my packed lunch outdoors, which was disappointing as I had hoped to dine with them. My friend kindly offered to purchase a drink for me from the bar, but my support worker declined, stating that I would prefer to get the drink myself.
Treasurer’s House 14:00pm- In the shadow of York Minster, right in the heart of the city, Treasurer’s House is a unique place to visit. It’s a National Trust property. I loved going over the bumps here me and Isla mum had and epic time on the cobbles that was the funniest part of the day

My colleague, Isla, demonstrated commendable teamwork and proactively contributed to the completion of this project.
The Fat Badger, located within the historic walls of the establishment, features York’s premier beer garden. It is therefore evident why it is regarded as one of the most esteemed inns in Yorkshire in the city itself.
Bootman Bar at 14:29 is located at the northern entrance to York. Bootham constitutes the oldest of the city’s four defensive bastions, featuring stones that date back to the eleventh century.
It is surprising to discover that in York, one might find oneself embracing a teddy bear, which was unexpected.
York Art Gallery 14:38- this was a toilet stop and a pit spot. Tip for people in future Rebel games go to the places that have a public toilet inside just saying.
We determined that engaging in welly wanging was not advisable due to the presence of numerous individuals in the vicinity. I am pleased to inform you that it has been included in the “Best of the Rebel Cup” annual badge syllabus, for which a shoe was provided.
Guido Fawkes, born in 1570 at this exact location adjacent to York Minster, would never have anticipated that his family residence would later become one of York’s most renowned inns. This venue offers an excellent alternative for those who prefer to avoid fireworks on Bonfire Night.

The location of Dick Turpin’s grave at 16.23 was accessible only to two individuals, as the site was not wheelchair accessible. I encountered difficulty reaching the site due to these accessibility limitations.
